August Rakutt is a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellow at George Washington University Hospital. He earned his undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Louisville, where he also pursued medical school and a Preliminary Internal Medicine year thereafter. He then completed Internal Medicine residency at Trinity Hospital near Tampa, Florida.
After graduating early from residency, Dr. Rakutt worked weekends in local Hospice Inpatient Units, providing care to terminally ill patients and supporting their families through the final stages of life. These experiences deepened his commitment to the field and the importance of patient-centered, end-of-life care.
Dr. Rakutt is particularly passionate about advancing education and funding for Hospice, recognizing its growing significance in an aging population.
