Dr. Miller, MD, is a practicing hospitalist, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Business (courtesy) at the Johns Hopkins University, and a nonresident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, where he focuses on Medicare payment policy, FDA regulatory policy, healthcare competition policy, veterans’ health, and public health policy. He is a member of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee, and a consultant and expert witness on health insurance for the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Federal Trade Commission.
Dr. Miller has testified before Congress on hospital consolidation and biomedical innovation. His work has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed policy and academic publications including the Harvard Business Review, Health Affairs Forefront, JAMA Health Forum, Journal of Hospital Medicine, and the New England Journal of Medicine. He has also been interviewed and published in the popular press including C-SPAN, the Hill, and STAT.
Dr. Miller earned a medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, a master of business administration from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, a master of public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and two bachelor of science degrees, in biochemistry and chemistry, from the University of Washington. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Public Health and General Preventive Medicine.
