Cyan McFarlane, MD
Mountain Area Health Education Center, General Surgery
PGY-2
Cyan McFarlane is currently transitioning from a general surgery residency to preventive medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at New York University. The Alternative Breaks program during college ignited her interests in social justice and health equity. This led her to complete a year with a health-focused AmeriCorps group in Philadelphia upon graduation. She pursued her medical degree at The Medical School for International Health, which was based in Be'er Sheva, Israel. This program allowed her to continue learning about public and global health while actively in a global medical setting. She matched to a general surgery program in Asheville, NC, but has since decided to transition to a preventive medicine residency program as this will allow her to combine her passions for medicine and public health.
