James Maloy is a fellow and MPH student in Health Policy. He attended Case Western Reserve University as an undergraduate, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and did his residency in Emergency Medicine at Beaumont Health in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he was a chief resident. As a resident, he was highly involved in advocacy efforts to ensure access to personal protective equipment for Emergency Center workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. He performed research regarding the impact of local Emergency Center prescribing-guidelines on empowering Emergency Physicians to be more judicious in ordering opioid medications and presented this research at national and regional meetings. He serves on the State/Legislative Regulatory Committee of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is a representative of the DC ACEP chapter on the national ACEP council. He is most interested in health insurance reform, specifically in advocacy for single-payer health insurance.
