Jeffrey Nadel, M.D., M.S.
White House Fellow, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Dr. Jeffrey Nadel is a White House Fellow, resident neurosurgeon, global health advocate, and health policy expert who is committed to ensuring equitable access to healthcare for all. As a 2022-2023 White House Fellow at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Dr. Nadel served in a senior-advisor capacity to the Secretary for Veterans Affairs & Undersecretary for Health, driving health policy priorities across the enterprise and ensuring full integration between the White House, Office of the Secretary, Veterans Health Administration. In his previous work combatting health disparities across the globe, Dr. Nadel collaborated with the Costa Rican government to build a national literacy program for the elderly.
He also worked to cultivate a global surgery research partnership in Uganda. Domestically, Dr. Nadel co-directed a free clinic for the homeless and helped lead an effort to fund community health workers in Detroit. Dr. Nadel was appointed an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Health Policy & Management at Georgetown University and served as a researcher at The Brookings Institution and the National Institutes of Health. He has published more than three dozen peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and press articles. Dr. Nadel earned an M.D. and M.S. (Clinical Research) from the University of Michigan as a Dean’s Scholar with induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. He also holds a B.A. from Colorado College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa as a Rhodes Scholarship finalist and Boettcher Scholar.
