Mariana Leone is a board-certified family medicine physician currently working as a locum tenens hospitalist. She completed undergraduate training in biology and psychology at the University of Maryland, medical school at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, and residency at Meritus Health in Maryland. She then completed an OB fellowship at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California.
Before leaving Mexico, she practiced medicine in a rural community. Upon returning to the United States and prior to residency, she worked for over four years at the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization on arboviral and infectious diseases and health emergencies, and earned her Master of Public Health from George Washington University. Her career interests center on full-spectrum family medicine, with a focus on advocacy, health policy, and promoting health equity in underserved communities.
