Dr. Marisa Penn is a current third-year resident in the GW Psychiatry Residency Training Program. She completed her medical school education at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, which she attended after finishing her undergraduate education at Duke University. Marisa has developed an interest in neural networks and their implications in psychological pathology, and became involved in a variety of research in brain pathology and neuromodulation as a treatment for psychiatric disorders. To this end, she has participated in numerous research projects and publications within the field of neuroscience and interventional psychiatry. Prior to medical school, she worked as a mental health technician on an inpatient psychiatric unit. After residency, she plans to pursue a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Her other interests and passions include teaching and mentorship.
