George Washington University, Internal Medicine
PGY-2
Shaitalya Vellanki is a second-year internal medicine resident at George Washington University. She grew up in the rural town of Lutcher, Louisiana where she first developed her commitment to serving underserved communities. It is where she watched her immigrant parents, both physicians, grow a successful primary care practice. She completed her undergraduate training at Dartmouth College, exposed to classes in healthcare policy, epidemiology, and medical anthropology that solidified her passion for pursuing medicine from a public health lens. After finishing at Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans, she moved to Washington D.C., an environment passionate about patient advocacy and community empowerment. She is currently in the Underserved Medicine & Public Health Concentration while in residency and intends to focus her further medical training on addressing healthcare disparities and improving access to complex medical care.
