Children's National Medical Center

Cristina Fernandez is a second-year pediatric resident at Children’s National Hospital. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Spanish, from Seton Hall University, where she competed as a Division I cross-country student-athlete. She received her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Her academic interests include improving access to care for under-resourced populations, advancing family-centered care, and addressing health disparities through health policy and systems-level interventions. Currently, she is involved in pediatric critical care research focused on caregiver support needs and communication for families with limited English proficiency in the pediatric intensive care unit. Cristina is interested in pursuing fellowship training in pediatric cardiology or pediatric critical care and hopes to combine high-acuity clinical care with research, advocacy, and health policy to improve outcomes for children and families.
