Melanie Ortiz, MD
Children's National Medical Center, Fetal & Neonatal Neurology

Melanie Ortiz is a Fetal and Neonatal Neurology Fellow at Children's National. She is originally from Puerto Rico, and completed undergraduate training at the University of Puerto Rico. She went on to medical school at Temple University, and completed child neurology residency at Nemours Childrens Hospital Delaware. She served as Policy Chair for the Northeast region of the Latino Medical Student Association, organizing educational events to engage medical students in health policy, as well as advocacy events both at state and national level. Her specific interests include supporting legislation that addresses health disparities, particularly language barriers, access to care, and improving health literacy. She aspires to utilize her subspecialty expertise and advocacy interests to improve perinatal and neonatal care.
