Sarah Alsamarai, MD, MS
Sarah Alsamarai is an Infectious Disease physician, currently serving as a Medical Officer in the General Bacteriology and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Branch in the Division of Microbiology within the US Food and Drug Administration. She has an interest in antimicrobial resistance, and serves on the Clinical and Laboratory and Standards Institute's Expert Panel on Microbiology. She continues to work clinically at the DC Department of Health and George Washington University Hospital. She is a graduate of Boston College, Harvard School of Public Health, and Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed residency in Internal Medicine at George Washington University Hospital and Infectious Disease fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Outside of medicine, Sarah enjoys writing. Her narrative writing essays are included in the forthcoming poetry anthology "The Things They Wrote: A writing/healing project."
