Teresitta Velez is a second year Pediatrics resident at Children's National. She completed undergraduate training at Columbia University and medical school at Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. She began her Pediatrics residency at Children's National as part of the Leadership in Advocacy Under-resourced Communities and Health Equity track. She has experience with community-based health as former executive board member of a student-organized health clinic providing free primary care to unstably housed LGBTQ+ people in NYC. She has also has experience with research focusing on identifying health disparities affecting families with limited English proficiency and writing opinion pieces promoting health equity for those within the LGBTQ community. Her career goal is to pursue a fellowship in adolescent medicine and promote health equity through community based advocacy and policy change.
